§ 6.02.170. Wild animal and mammals, poisonous snakes and other reptiles.

  • A non-domestic animal which is wild and potentially dangerous in its natural state and as defined in Section 1406 of the Fish and Game Code of the state, shall not be kept or maintained within the City without complying with all requirements as set forth in this and any other Titles of the City, in addition to the following:

    A.

    Such person desiring to keep or maintain a wild animal, poisonous snake or reptile shall first obtain a permit from the State pursuant to Section 1450 of the Fish and Game Code of the State and shall meet any and all conditions required by the permit.

    B.

    In addition thereto, the possessor shall obtain public liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 in which the City shall be named an additional insured.

    C.

    The wild animal, snake or reptile may be transported through the City if it is confined in such a manner as to pose no threat, injury or harm to persons in this City. The animal must at all times be properly caged or tethered. In addition the person shall comply with all requirements as set forth in the Fish and Game Code of the State.
